Summer Solstice some useful links.

My Summer Solstice ornies I made as a present to myself! Well why not! 😂  These were made on flat MDF baubles. I painted the bauble with gesso, left it to dry. Then using archival ink I stamped on the Ancient Stones using several stamps from Cherry Pie Art Stamps. I then hand painted it all using water colours. To finish I added some trimmings my dear friend Suzanne sent me. Thank you Suzanne xxx😘 Some useful links for the Summer Solstice 🌞 https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/articles. To watch the Summer Solstice setting sun please visit English Heritage's youtube channel. This is a free service but a donation is alway nice. Especially with what happened yesterday! Say no more any donations go to keep the Stones save for future generations to enjoy.  https://www.youtube.com/live/

Happy Summer Solstice to you all xx

Mandrake Magic, a Witchy Wednesday article.

Mandrakes have always fascinated me since I saw Mandrake roots at the Witchcraft Museum in Cornwall way back in the hazy days of the late 1970's! In those days Mandrakes were only really known to those who had been lucky enough to have visited the Witch Museum or had an interest in botany and witchcraft. Now of course children and adults alike know of them thanks to being featured in the film Harry Potter and chamber of secrets. A really memorable and extremely hilarious scene involving the repotting of screaming Mandrakes! The joy of this scene is of course that even though this was created from the clever imagination of JK Rawlings and the clever puppetry of the special effects department there is a very interesting historical background to Mandrakes.  Wonderful video on YouTube about the folklore, myths and legends surrounding Mandrakes from folklorist Anna Bridgland.  Some real mandrakes on show at the Witchcraft Museum in Boscastle Cornwall. This was the same Museum I saw...
