Back blogging again soon.

Image
Sorry for my lack of blogging. We lost our dog a few months ago and to be honest it knocked the wind out of my sails. I am getting back on track slowly. I am currently getting back into my studies this week. I am studying for a diploma in Kitchen Witchery so I hope to be back blogging here soon with renewed enthusiasm!

Easter Witch!

Image
Fun postcards showing a more fun view of the Easter Witches! The tradition is said to come from the old belief that witches  would fly to the blue mountain (BlÃ¥kulla) on the Thursday before Easter  to visit the devil. Swedes would hide brooms to try and prevent witches from attending and light fires to scare them away! A practise honoured today by the bonfires and fireworks across the land in the days leading up to Sunday. Please visit this link for more history on the Easter Witches. Because of the content I would recommend this article for adult eyes only.  https://sv.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlÃ¥kulla

Mother Red Cap of Camden Town!

Image
Jinney Bingham also known as 'Mother Red Cap' wearing her shawl 'that looked as if bats were embroidered apon it!' I have always loved visiting Camden, especially Camden market. As a teen my main reason to visit Camden was to look in the record shops( showing my age!), buy cool clothes and spot interesting people including the famous. I once bumped into Suggs from Madness and Robert Smith from the Cure! Pre mobile phone day's sadly so my only proof is my memory. Little did I know in those days that Camden had many myth and legends including highwaymen, ghosts and a famous witch Jinney Bingham, more famously known as the Mother Red or Black Cap. A name I knew from having a family background in pubs. Her Ghost is rumored to haunt The Worlds End pub! If you look up Mother Red Cap you will find many pubs had this name or her alternative name of Black cap. Whilst researching about Mother Red Cap I found these fab articles which delve into the legend in ...

The loss of my dear companion.

Image
Hi everyone. I wanted to apologise for the lack of interesting blogs this year but I have been spending the past few months looking after my poorly dog. I lost my dear companion this month which has hit us all very hard. My dear Pickle dog had been with us for twelve years and eight months. He was an adorable cheeky character, he gave us lots of love, laughter and always accompanied us on our travels up and down the country. He was a bit of a celebrity in his own right and gathered many adopted Aunties and Uncles. He has always been a bundle of energy and fun but sadly in the new year his age caught up with him and he got seriously ill and need 24/7 care which left me no time or energy for anything else. He passed away peacefully at 3.45pm on the 1st of March in my arms. It feels very sad and dreadfully odd not having him around as he used to follow me everywhere like a shadow! But life goes on and sad memories will hopefully soon be filled with all the fun we had. And along with this...
