Making a Ornamental Witches broom part three

Image
Making an ornamental Witches broom. Part three.  🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹 Picture one. Once tied into place I trimmed the bristles to the length I desired. Picture two. Some of the lengths of raffia are naturally quite thick. So I used a pair of scissors and carefully cut up the lengths of raffia to thin out the fibres. Picture three. My basic broom is now made  and ready for decorating. Picture four. Some of my brooms ready for decorating. I hope my tutorial inspires you to have a go at making your own witches broom. Remember these are for ornamental purposes only and depending on the materials used may not be suitable for children.  Some of my decorated brooms I used all sorts of bits and bobs to decorate them. Beads, dried floristry items, sequins, crafting fibres, string and even plastic netted bag from lemons we bought at the supermarket.

Making an ornamental Witches broom. Part two 🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹 Picture one. I cut some lengths of raffia the same length as my broom. Depending on broom handle size will depend on the amount of raffia required. It's a bit trial and error at this stage.  Picture two. I folded my raffia in half. Picture three. I surrounded my stick with the raffia making sure there wasn't too many gaps. At this stage you can add or remove bristles. I then secured into place with hemp string. Picture four. Taking some scissors I trimmed all the folded loops. This is optional you might prefer to keep it looped.  Next stage to follow next posting...............

Making an ornamental Witches Broom. Part one

Making an ornamental Witches broom. Part one. 🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹 First step is to gather your materials. 😊For the broom handle you will need sticks. I used wooden sticks naturally pruned from my garden and also some decorative sticks from my local craft shop. You can get decorative sticks from florists, Garden centres and some gift shops.  As an alternative to sticks you can use cake pop sticks, pencils, wooden spoons. Obviously you can gather sticks from the ground at local woodland walks or parks but please check that you have permission to do so. Some parks prohibit the taking of natural items including sticks even if found on the ground. For the bristles you will need raffia ribbon. If you don't have raffia you can also use string, wool, crepe paper or straw. Next posting will be how to make your broom.............. 🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹

Pumpkins at Overstone Grange Farm!

Image
We had the wonderful privilege of visiting Overstone Grange Farm last weekend before they opened to the general public. Having a special photographers hour we were able to take lots of photos of their fabulous display of pumpkins. They have grown quite an amazing variety of different sizes and colours. All of which are now for sale and at really reasonable prices.  Gorgeous Gourds! 😉 I highly recommend visiting this family run farm. They have lots of fun things for children to enjoy. The are drinks and snacks, outside loos and plenty of parking. Just wear sensible footwear especially when raining! Beautiful pumpkins For details on opening hours and admission costs please visit their website.  https://www.overstonegrangefarm.co.uk/  or look out for them on Instagram.  Beautiful field of pumpkins you can walk amongst. You can select your own, wheelbarrows are provided.  Even the Scarecrows have fun at Overstone Grange Farm!  Lots of happy Pumpkins at Oversto...
