The Encyclopedia of British Bogies by Cecily Peele


I just recieved my copy of The Encyclopedia of British Bogies by Cecily Peele from The National Archives online gift shop. It's a faithful reproduction of the original book published in the 1920's. The book, which is more than a pamphlet at 52 pages, is full of delightfully hand drawn characters from Witches, Hobgoblin, and other creatures from British folklore each with an accompanying page of information or quotes. Not a great deal of information but enough to explain the image and certainly enough to wet the appetite for further research. 

The National Archives has wonderful collection of interesting books it also offers online research and interesting courses and talks. Plus they have a very interesting gift shop. Here is the link
