๐Well not long to go and it will be the end of 2023.๐ We always start the new year with great expectations of what this new year will bring. Some people make new years resolutions to give up smoking, to loose weight, get fit, to spend more time doing something they perhaps neglected the year before. But whatever your plans are for 2024 I hope you all have a healthy, peaceful and happy new year. I personally will be glad when the winter vail of darkness starts to fade and the springtime light starts to return. Nothing nicer than a sunny spring day sat in my little garden with a mug of tea admiring the beautiful spring flowers! Wishing you all a Happy New Year! Witchy Wednesday will be back in January 2024.
Yule tide greetings and a merry Christmas to you all! ๐

Witchy Wednesday Witch Bottles part two.

Witch Bottles! To follow on to my article last month on the Witch Bottles found washed up on the beach here is another fascinating Witch Bottle story. Not all Witch Bottles contain spells! This Witch Bottle, which I was fortunate to see at the Spellbound exhibition back in 2018, is reported to actually contain a trapped witch! A beautiful Witch Bottle I was fortunate to see in person at the Spellbound exhibition at Ashmolean in 2018 now on display in the Pit Rivers Museum in Oxford. This silvery, hourglass-shaped vessel is said to have been obtained from an ‘old lady’ who remarked that opening it would release a witch and unleash ‘a peck o’ trouble’. Please visit the Pit Rivers Museum website for information on their opening hours and events. https://www.prm.ox.ac.uk/ Close up of the bottle at the Pit Rivers museum in Oxford Oxfordshire. Back next week for another Witchy Wednesday! ✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️✨ Some folklore stories ...
Witchy Wednesday, making stars๐๐๐

Use in a Witchypoo scene! Making pretty stars! This Witchy Wednesday I thought it would be nice to reshare a tutorial I did last year on how to make pretty stars to decorate wreaths, use in mixed media projects or even just to hang with a ribbon on a tree. The joy of stars are they can be used all year round for lots of craft projects and make lovely gifts for friends and family. To make the magical stars like above you will need. MDF or wooden star shapes. Inks (Tim Holtz) or mixture of metallic paints Nuvo drops(or similar) Sculpting paste and sculpting tool I used a toothpick. Glitter. Plus any other 'bling' you fancy adding. To decorate firstly I smoothed any rough surfaces with some sandpaper. To be honest these wood shapes from Hobbycraft were ready to decorate but I find a little sand helps adhesion. I then applied a marble size blob of modeling paste directly onto the wooden surface. Using a toothpick I made rough patterns. I then ...

I thought it would be nice to post some festive music. I love traditional Christmas carols, Christmas pop music, and 20th Century songs about Santa, snowmen and reindeer! But I also love it that people are doing more songs and music with ancient yuletide pagan roots. As far as I am concerned music is what makes you feel happy! So embrace it all. Enjoy x
Witchy Wednesdays, Creepy Christmas!

Welcome to another Witchy Wednesday as we fly like a witch on a broom closer to Christmas I thought it would be interesting to delve into the more unusual and sometime spooky side of the up coming festive period. Other than the religious meaning of Christmas these days the festive period has now become all about presents, food, sweet treats and drinks! Most of us look forward to family gatherings, nights out with friends, parties, pantos and watching feel good movies. Our warm homes decorated with pretty decorations, Christmas trees adorned with fairy lights and sparkling baubles. We spend many hours snuggled under blankets watch ing TV munching chocolates! But if you look into the not so distant history you find that Christmas time for most people could be quite a bleak and at times quite spooky. During the winter months the daylight hours become much shorter and the dark nights become much longer. More of an inconvenience these days but before the invention of...
