Witchy Wednesday Witch Bottles part two.

 Witch Bottles!

To follow on to my article last month on the Witch Bottles found washed up on the beach here is another fascinating Witch Bottle story.

Not all Witch Bottles contain spells!  This Witch Bottle, which I was fortunate to see at the Spellbound exhibition back in 2018, is reported to actually contain a trapped witch!

A beautiful Witch Bottle I was fortunate to see in person at the Spellbound exhibition at Ashmolean in 2018 now on display in the Pit Rivers Museum in Oxford.
This silvery, hourglass-shaped vessel is said to have been obtained from an ‘old lady’ who remarked that opening it would release a witch and unleash ‘a peck o’ trouble’.
Please visit the Pit Rivers Museum website for information on their opening hours and events.

Back next week for another Witchy Wednesday!

Some folklore stories and articles about History can be quite scary and disturbing and may have some adult content. So I would always advise visiting, reading and viewing any links before showing or reading to younger children.
