This spooky scene was made using a die cut paper headless horseman coloured in with Posca pens and glued onto a inked background. The Tim Burton-esque branches were made using Tim Holtz Twisted layering stencil THSO65 by Stampers Anonymous. Inked with a combination of Tim Holtz distress oxides.   Making a Halloween tag ornament. Firstly the fun part is gathering my chosen shapes and trying out various scenes. I am using Halloween MDF shapes. Once I am happy with the layout I take a photo. I find this really useful not only for reminding myself where to glue my shapes but in case I get interrupted, or my craft space gets invaded by the Cat or Craft Pixies! 🐈 🧚🤣 Many a time I have gone for lunch or to answer the doorbell to return to find a disturbed craft mat!!!! 🤣 The scene I have chosen is of a haunted house. The little house has cut out windows which I want to glow in the dark. So I painted the area where my house is going to go with a base of white acrylic paint. Then several layers of glow in the dark paint. I then left this to dry.  Once the glow in the dark paint had dried I glued on my haunted house and other shapes then gave them all an undercoat of white matt acrylic paint. Then using a mixture of black, purple, green and yellow acrylic paints I painted ...

 👻Making a simple Halloween card 💀 You will need:  One metal die cutter (plus die cutting machine). A sheet of craft foam. A stamping block. Double sided tape. Good quality smooth card.  Black archival ink. Tim Holtz Distress Mica Stain sprays.  White acrylic paint and old paint brush to add star splats! A cloth to dab ink.  Simply cut out a foam shape and stick onto a stamping block with a little double sided tape.  Ink your stamp, I would recommend trying a couple of practice stamps on some scrap paper first.  Then when you are happy with the results stamp your image onto your smooth card.  Leave to dry.  Then spray mica inks around your stamped image dabbing with a cloth. If your mica covers your stamped image too much just spray with water and dab with your cloth to remove some of the colour.  Leave to dry. Then to finish off water down some white paint and using your paint brush flick on some stars!  Once dry tape onto a card...

Whilst looking through an old chest in my attic I found a photo of my fourth Great Uncle Prometheus. No one really knows his history. My great grandmother said he came from somewhere cold and was connected to a Doctor Frankenstein, though this was never spoken about! He lived a very long age despite his war injuries one if which was a nasty cut across his forehead. My Mum said that local children said he could remove and scratch his brain! Kids can be silly and cruel! But then some kids like adults do make up some crazy things! To create my portrait of my Great Uncle Prometheus I used a fabulous image of a Gentleman found in a pack of Tim Holtz Idea-ology framed portraits TH93616. You could use Tim Holtz paper doll, an image from a magazine or a photocopy of a real family photo.  To give my Great Uncle a ghostly glow I coloured him in with a green marker. I just recieved my copy of The Encyclopedia of British Bogies by Cecily Peele from The National Archives online gift shop. It's a faithful reproduction of the original book published in the 1920's. The book, which is more than a pamphlet at 52 pages, is full of delightfully hand drawn characters from Witches, Hobgoblin, and other creatures from British folklore each with an accompanying page of information or quotes. Not a great deal of information but enough to explain the image and certainly enough to wet the appetite for further research.  The National Archives has wonderful collection of interesting books it also offers online research and interesting courses and talks. Plus they have a very interesting gift shop. The Autumn season is now in full flow, the leaves are turning hues of gold, rusts and reds and bushes are laden with berries and rosehips. When I was small my Nan and her sisters use to recommend rosehip syrup and rosehip tea for a cure all for everything. Sadly it fell out of fashion but recently to my delight it seems to be having a resurgence and can now be found in health shops and selective mainstream retailers. But it's never as nice as homemade.
